Summary

A woman’s suspicions about her ex-boyfriend become a dangerous obsession in a twisting novel of psychological suspense by Washington Post and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Minka Kent。

Eight years ago, Grace McMullen broke Sutton Whitlock’s heart when she walked away。 But it was only to save him from the baggage of her own troubled past。 Now all she wants is to make sure he’s okay。

Only everything she learns about him online says otherwise。 According to his social media accounts, he placed roots in her hometown, married a look-alike, and even named his daughter Grace。 He clearly hasn’t moved on。 In fact, it’s creepy。 So Grace does what any concerned ex-girlfriend would do: she moves home…and watches him。

But when Grace crosses paths with Sutton’s wife, Campbell, an unexpected friendship develops。 Campbell has no idea whom she’s inviting into her life。 As the women grow closer, it becomes clear to Grace that Sutton is not the sentimental man she once knew。 He seems controlling, unstable, and threatening。 And what a broken man like Sutton is capable of, Grace can only imagine。 It’s up to her to save Campbell and her baby now—but while she’s been watching them, who’s been watching her?

Pretty predictable。 Good for an airplane read。

Good character developmentYou're not sure you like the main character and then she starts to unravel bit by bit。 Seems like a slow start and speeds up after half way in。 Good character developmentYou're not sure you like the main character and then she starts to unravel bit by bit。 Seems like a slow start and speeds up after half way in。 。。。more

Another outstanding domestic thriller by Minka Kent; I could not put it down。 While the female lead is fighting her own demons and at first hard to like, one quickly gets in her corner as she tries to do the right thing。 From there, the story rockets through twists and turns and leaves the reader almost breathless。 Very satisfying and well constructed。 I will always read this author。 Thank you Ms Kent 。

Worth the read。 Couldn't put it down, never expected the twist with Campbell being a psycho, also annoyed it wasn't a longer read, but well worth it。 Worth the read。 Couldn't put it down, never expected the twist with Campbell being a psycho, also annoyed it wasn't a longer read, but well worth it。 。。。more

Another winner Grace is taking a break from work, going back east to visit family, and also going to apologize to an ex-lover for the ways he left him。 The suspense climbs and climes to a dramatic end。 Good read!

The Watcher Girl: A ThrillerThis story has so many tangles and turns。 Somewhere I lost the story line of why Mom was in jail for murdering someone。 Then we have a 30 year old trying to find biological family members。 Last but not least a jealous wife of an ex- boyfriend who has gone off the deep end。 But it kept me interested so 5 stars it is。

I liked the booked。 I liked the whole story with Grace and her adopted family。 Her whole back story with Sutton。 It seemed odd to me that after all that time, Grace would go home to see Sutton。 Odder that she ends up meeting his wife, Campbell。 And, she totally believed everything Campbell told her about Sutton。 Grace talked about him as a kind, gentle person but believed without even batting an eye when Campbell told her he was a jerk。 Grace has a lot of baggage but she is focused on Campbell a I liked the booked。 I liked the whole story with Grace and her adopted family。 Her whole back story with Sutton。 It seemed odd to me that after all that time, Grace would go home to see Sutton。 Odder that she ends up meeting his wife, Campbell。 And, she totally believed everything Campbell told her about Sutton。 Grace talked about him as a kind, gentle person but believed without even batting an eye when Campbell told her he was a jerk。 Grace has a lot of baggage but she is focused on Campbell and Sutton instead of spending time with her family。I suspected what was going to happen with Campbell and Grace。 And, then in the end with Sutton。 。。。more

Grace and Sutton broke up years ago。 Sutton has a new life with Grace’s look alike wife and a daughter named Grace。 Grace and Sutton’s wife Campbell become friends。 This is where the story begins with obsession and Grace’s questioning of Sutton’s behavior。 I highly recommend this thriller! Suspicions, Sharpness and Unexpected Ending! 4。5 stars! I received an early advance copy from Goodreads。 Many thanks for this!

This is the first book by this author that I have read and although I hadn’t read the previous book I would like to when I get time。 I still found this story very interesting and enjoyable, a touch different, which I liked too。Grace is the lead character who has had a traumatic past and upbringing but has gone on to become a successfully employed researcher or ‘Watcher’ and this is how she found out that her ex-boyfriend, Sutton, was living in her home town, married to her look-alike and with a This is the first book by this author that I have read and although I hadn’t read the previous book I would like to when I get time。 I still found this story very interesting and enjoyable, a touch different, which I liked too。Grace is the lead character who has had a traumatic past and upbringing but has gone on to become a successfully employed researcher or ‘Watcher’ and this is how she found out that her ex-boyfriend, Sutton, was living in her home town, married to her look-alike and with a daughter, they’d named—Grace! 😳 I would be spooked by this too if I was her character too but she really had a lot of guts and so much more confidence than I would have had, she did admit to being more confident behind a computer screen。 😄 Even so, I didn’t really gel with her that much。 I will also admit though, that she is very honest about herself and I liked that aspect。The story has quite a lot of twists and turns that completely changes things up, especially for Grace。 I always like it when a story isn’t completely predictable, in fact, it’s the fact that Grace finds things happening that she didn’t see coming that makes the story because it is more realistic。 The icing on the cake has to be the ending though, good twist。*ARC received in exchange for an honest review* For more reviews, news and giveaways, check out Saucy Reviews on Kinky Korner at; Blog | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | Instagram 。。。more

Not bad, not greatThe main character is not really likeable。 Self-centered almost to the point of narcissism without any really redeeming qualities and the whole story is based on that fact。 It's a fairly predictable book with a few twists but nothing all that surprising。 It kind of reads like a Hallmark thriller script。 Most of the book is difficult to believe which is only made worse, for me, when the author writes the cliche "but this isn't a story, it's real life" as if the reader needs a re Not bad, not greatThe main character is not really likeable。 Self-centered almost to the point of narcissism without any really redeeming qualities and the whole story is based on that fact。 It's a fairly predictable book with a few twists but nothing all that surprising。 It kind of reads like a Hallmark thriller script。 Most of the book is difficult to believe which is only made worse, for me, when the author writes the cliche "but this isn't a story, it's real life" as if the reader needs a reminder that the series of unlikely events and unrealistic conversations is, indeed, supposed to be anything other than fiction。 Overall, not a terrible read but I'm glad I got it as a first reads book for free。 。。。more

So I decided to read The Memory Watcher before reading this one so I would have the complete story and quite frankly, reading them back to back actually shook loose several plot holes that were quite jarring。 The biggest one for me is that these stories were supposed to take place approximately 20 years apart but felt like they happened in the same decade。 The same social media platform was used in both books (Instaface) - and in a normal evolution of the internet, they would have had different So I decided to read The Memory Watcher before reading this one so I would have the complete story and quite frankly, reading them back to back actually shook loose several plot holes that were quite jarring。 The biggest one for me is that these stories were supposed to take place approximately 20 years apart but felt like they happened in the same decade。 The same social media platform was used in both books (Instaface) - and in a normal evolution of the internet, they would have had different social media over a 20 year span。 After that, there were little things。 For example, Grace mentions that they grew up with nannies every summer, when in the first book, it was made clear that Autumn was the first nanny the children had ever had。 There were several inconsistencies like these that detracted from the overall story。 Otherwise, it made for a quick, enjoyable read。 。。。more

Wonderfully suspenseful。 Just what I expected from Minka Kent。Intricately woven, Kent draws the reader in from the first paragraph。 As a professional editor, proofreader, and voracious reader, I rarely find books without egregious errors。 Kudos to Kent and her editors。 Perfection!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, as well as how quickly I got through it considering my recent lack of reading。 But, this book is well-written, paced and doesn't overstay its' welcome - something that often happens in crime or thriller books that like to draw out the reveal a bit much。Focusing on the story of Grace McMullen, an adopted loner distant from her adopted family due to choice and tragedy, who returns to her home of Monarch Falls primarily to address her ex-boyfriend wh I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, as well as how quickly I got through it considering my recent lack of reading。 But, this book is well-written, paced and doesn't overstay its' welcome - something that often happens in crime or thriller books that like to draw out the reveal a bit much。Focusing on the story of Grace McMullen, an adopted loner distant from her adopted family due to choice and tragedy, who returns to her home of Monarch Falls primarily to address her ex-boyfriend who she hurt so long ago。 On arriving she finds that he has remarried, and has a child with, a woman who looks just like her。 This sets off a story of deception, stalking and domestic disharmony that managed to keep my interesting through the writing style, as well as the compelling nature of the protagonist Grace。 While some may be annoyed by her need for distance and paranoia, I found her an extremely believable person who acted in ways entirely believable for most in her situation。 While this book could have been filled with numerous twists and turns in a dramatic plot, author Minka Kent keeps the twists to an honest minimum yet spaces them out to make the reveals all the more satisfying。 Completed with characters that are present just enough to entice and this book is worth a quick read。 Although there are some subplots that feel underused and a tad pointless, they do fill out the character of Grace more and add to the story without bloating it into something overly dramatic and ridiculous。 。。。more
